Shannon's Wedding

y dear dear friend Shannon is now married! It is so strange to have her be married now. I knew this day would come, but it just seems so soon. I drove down from Logan to Cedar on Friday so I would be close to Beaver to go to her reception on Saturday July 30. It was such a nice reception, She was beautiful, the decorations and music were great. Dayna, Shannon's sister, played her guitar and sang for parts of the reception. She is very good! Dayna also caught the boquet, well tripped over it and kinda stumbled for it actually. It was rather hailarious. She almost bowled Shannon over and fell on her face! But she got it!

It is rather strange to have most of my friends be married and myself still single. I am not complaining, I don't think I am at all ready for a step yet. I guess it is good timing though. I am leaving the state in a month or so and many of my friends are now married and starting a new chapter in their lives. Fitting I guess and appropriate. Anyway, I really think that Shannon and Greg will be so happy together. Congrats girl!

Vegas baby! And Other Stuff...

A lot has happened in the last few weeks. The weekend before Shannon's wedding I had the opportunity to take a trip to Las Vegas with one of my good friends from high school, Jessica Salmond! this was our first real vacation together and it turned out great. It was so nice to be able to spend some quality girl time together and catch up on each others lives. It was almost like we had never been apart.

Nothing was really planned and we both liked it that way. My favorite part was shopping for a dress and accessories to wear to a club on the strip. We debated between the TAO and the new Marque club at the Cosmopolitan. We chose the TAO deciding chances of getting into the club without having to wait in line too long was the best choice. how right we were! We basically got right into the club. There were two areas for lines and we were sent into one where there was no one else. Not quite sure why that happened but I wasn't going to complain about it. I was super excited to dance, I love it although I am certainly not very good at it. Shortly into our adventure we met these three really awesome sisters. They were there celebrating one of the girls 21st birthday. They were very friendly and we all got along amiably. We spent most of the night with them dancing and talking. A guy also bought me a drink, virgin of course. He was a little shocked when he found out I didn't drink. Overall, it was a fabulous evening and a good experience.

Jessie and I also went to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay. It cost a little bit of money, but neither of us had been to one before and figured why not. It was interesting and I enjoyed it. I would have loved it if the price had been a bit cheaper. We went into the Luxor, MGM, the Cosmopolitan, and a couple other casinos. They were all really quite neat inside. The M&M factory and the Coke factory were both cool, but very crowded. The Coke factory had a travel the world soda sampling dealio that was really quite fun. There were some really good and not so good ones. my taste buds were jumping all over the place after that. Mmmm tasty!

Update on my new job. I finally found out yesterday (8/8, yeah I started this post 7/29 and just am now finishing it!) what school I am going to! It is called Pioneer Valley Elementary and it is in Spanaway Washington. I think I may have also found an apartment in Puyallup. It will be about a 25 minute commute, but I think the location will be worth it. It will be close to the freeway and thus Tacoma, shopping, and fine dining. I faxed my application today so hopefully that will work out. i also found out about a training for my job and then a dinner opening social for EBS. I am pretty excited for both of them. I love learning and doing new things. I am starting to get very excited and slightly nervous.

As for moving, I found out that a Uhaul would cost me about $800 and a thingy to pull my car on would be $300. There was no way in heaven I was going to pay that much money. Especially because I don't have that much furniture. Therefore, I decided that I would just pack up my stuff in my little car Betty, try to find a friend to go with me, drive up to Washington, buy furniture there, play a little in Seattle, then fly my friend home. We shall see how this little plan turns out. I am going on almost blind faith here that everything will work out well. Everything so far feels right so it must be the thing to do! I just wish sometimes that it wasn't going to be so very far away. Anyway, that is the important stuff I think.

Until next time!

My First Post!

My dear friend Ember talked me into starting up a blog, actually she basically helped me set it up. Thanks Ember! A lot has happened to me within the last couple of months. in a nutshell: May I graduated from Utah State University with my master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a successfully defended thesis under my belt (actually I defended in November, one of the scariest days of my life!). I will be working for EBS Healthcare come September in Washington state at an elementary school. I am so excited! I don't really know anybody up there. Hopefully I will be able to make friends rather quickly. Things worked out really well when I was in Maryland this last January-April. This gives me hope and great courage that things will also work out well on the west coast.

Currently, I am subbing for a lovely lady who is on maternity leave at the Up to 3 program in Logan, Utah. I really like the program and really LOVE my co-workers and the families I am working with. i couldn't have asked for a better summer job.

Other fabulous news: I bought a new car!! I have been waiting for the opportune moment wherein to upgrade to a more reliable and gas efficient automobile. My newly found employment has provided me with such an occasion. I have had my new little silver 2011 Honda Civic Coupe for a week and 5 days and I love her to death! I have called her Civee for now until I can come up with a more appropriate and original name. The only down side is my little Alfred(a little dog I hung on my rearview mirror) got left in my old Saturn. I almost cried when I realized I left him. i am on the search for a suitable replacement.

That is the very very short version of recent events. I will add more soon. Right now it is rather late and i am tired. I went to USUs faculty 6 week fitness class for the first time today. let's just say that I almost fell down the two small steps into my apartment because my legs almost gave way.
